Island Folders

On the fleamarket I recently discovered some beautifully patterned books – they all belong to a series called Insel-Bücherei (Island library). I bought a few old ones and Nicki surprised me with some lovely pink, red and purple ones that are still in excellent shape for my birthday.

Yesterday I had a visit from Manuel whose Paperbot workshop I missed and together we spent a nice afternoon turning a couple of these books into file folders.

Ja, die Bücher der Inselbücherei kann man schon allein wege ihrer wunderschönen Umschläge kaufen!!

Ich muss zugeben, dass es mich immer ein wenig entsetzt, wenn ich sehe, wie Du ein Buch seines Umschlags beraubst. Die Ergebnisse sehen toll aus, keine Frage, doch wie geht es dem einstigen Inhalt des Umschlags? Gibst Du dem auch ein neues “zu Hause”?

Stimmt, das geht mir auch so. Ich find Deine Ordner total schön, würd mich aber nie trauen, selbst Hand an die Bücher zu legen.
Deswegen muss ich wohl selbst Muster entwerfen ;-)

oja, diese hübschen bücher bewundere ich auch jedes mal in meiner lieblingsbuchhandlung. ich glaube, ich muss mir doch auch endlich mal eins kaufen :)

Oh, I love these.
Last time I went to Oxfam I saw similar books – a whole bunch of them. I was very tempted to buy them. I think they were 1Euro each or something like that. In the end I did not buy them as I was not sure what exactly I could do with them. I thought I could come up with something at some point … but then I already have so much stuff lying around that I want to come up with some ideas for …. :-)
But next time I come across some I have a good reason to buy them! (Also our local library gives away old books for FREE!!!! I already snatched a few that have a very cute cover.)
Would you maybe consider writing a tutorial about how to make these folders? Or is there a good source on the web where I could find out?
Unless you want to sell them – I would totally understand if you do not want to share in that case. ;-)
