Finally gave printing a try: Little cotton bags for rainy days…

Little cotton bags for rainy days
Rainy cloud stencil for printing

Lately it seems like many of my sentences start with finally. Well, at least I kind of feel like i’m catching up, doing and trying things, that I’ve been wanting to do for quite a while. Things like printing by hand – ever since I bought this book.

I found these cute little cotton bags a while back and made a simple stencil last week, inspired by the rainy weather outside – funny enough the day after I made the stencil it was really nice and sunny. I thought the bags would be cute to put some little treasures inside and surprise a friend. I also put a couple in my shop

I really like sun and clouds – I wish I had one of these.
What’s your favorite weather?

100% recycled paperlove

Large sketchbook handbound in recycled paper by NineteenSeventyThree

This is one of the lovely papers I found this year, designed by NineteenSeventyThree and printed on really nice & heavy recycled brown paper, which makes it fantastic for bookbinding. It is part of a series called the good life.

NineteenSeventyThree is a british design company started in 2003 by James & Emma Emmerson and named after the year they were born. They collaborate with some amazing artists like Pintuck and Sukie – you might already have seen one of the papers Sukie designed in this post here.

What were your favorite paper finds this year?

A second kraftpaper book for boys

Kraftpaper journal by paperama

I made a very simple A4 journal as a birthday present for one of my best friends from college a while back, using black booklinen for the spine and natural brown kraftpaper for the covers.

I called it “book for boys” because I restrained (?) from using any of my patterned papers. Today I finished a second almost identical kraftpaper journal. I think I might add it to the shop tomorrow . It’s in the shop.

Liesan was wondering where to find grey elastics, I got it here.

Tiny little Owl Post

Owl Post - Eulenpost

Tomorrow I will send a little Owl Post on its way, to someone secret.
Secret because I don’t know who will receive it myself. But I hope it arrives well and maybe I will tell you a bit more later…

I made the tag from an old kraft envelope using a punch. The tiny envelopes I found on our last holidays in Lisboa.

If you like owls, I think you will also like the Brown Owls blog.

Paper shopping in Cologne: Majesty Paper

Majesty Paper Köln / Cologne - Letterpress

Majesty Paper Köln / Cologne - Paper Owl

In a small and quiet side street in the center of Cologne there’s a lovely little shop called Majesty Paper. Kim Ullerich, an American graphic designer and her husband Ingo founded Majesty Paper in 2006. Two years later they opened their lovely shop, where they design and sell their own letterpress cards, stamps and stationery but also offer a variety of beautiful papers.

So far they’re the only place I found in Cologne carrying Snow & Graham paper – one of my absolutely favorite “brands” when it comes to paper. Besides that they also have a small selection of japanese Chiyogami paper and Italian Carta Varese.

Sorry about the bad pictures, once I’m in there I always get distracted –
I will try to take some better ones next time.

There was a bookbinding market here in Cologne a few weeks back. I still didn’t get a chance to go through all the photos I took, but I thought I’d just post a couple of pictures of the beautiful papers I got.

How do you like these wonderful wrapping sheets by Kamal, that my collegue discovered today?

Paperama has moved – Welcome to the new Paperama blog

Paperamal

I finally did it: After almost 2 years on blogspot I finally moved my blog to my own server using wordpress – the best blog system in the whole wide world. The moving worked out surprisingly well, with the help of the magic button I got all 48 posts and even 78 of 80 comments automatically transferred in less than 2 minutes. Unfortunately the comment authors URLs got lost, but if that’s the only thing, I’ll be more than happy to copy & paste those during the next days.

I’m not all done with the layout and setup, but I’m quiet happy with this first version for now. I didn’t expect to get this far in just 1 day. Well, I really hope you like it too! Looking forward to hear from you!
